As you may know, I have just arrived in Berlin for a month of intensive German courses with one of my best friends and I thought I would share a few photos shot and edited with my phone. We are absolutely loving the city and have discovered some wonderful places.
If you followed me throughout my time in Madrid you will know how much I love discovering a city's urban parks and Berlin is no exception - there seem to be parks every few hundred metres. Tiergarten is the city's largest urban park and is absolutely stunning.
Bocca di Bacco is known to be one of the city's best Italian restaurants and very fairly priced. We had a chestnut crème caramel for dessert which I am dying to recreate!
It is fascinating to live in a city with such recent history. It's crazy to think that my Grandpa served in the Royal Navy during the Second World War, my parents were alive during the construction of the Berlin Wall and my brother, albeit only just, was alive for the fall. You can almost feel the city teaching you its history. Checkpoint Charlie, Mauerpark, the Holocaust Memorial and the Reichstag are a few of the places we visited this week.
While absorbing the culture, history, nightlife and learning the German language, we certainly aren't missing out on all the typical snacks and drinks. We love rostbratwurst and a glass of glühwein after class. If you know any great spot in the city, please share!
